Computer troubles...Unable to Post Cards

Oops! Today I have big trouble! The laptop that I use ALL the time would not reboot! I hope to be back soon, but it seems to be " When it rains, it pours..." :(
I can access the internet on this computer, but it is way old, and I cannot load ANYTHING on here. I really shouldn't even be on the internet on this one. I use it to work in Printmaster. That's it!
Until we meet again...
...with the big sad face,

Cards for Garyn

Cards for Garyn;

Quote for Today: (This one's for Garyn...)

Look backward with gratitude, and forward with confidence. Unknown

I made these cards for Garyn who recently graduated from Norfolk State University, Summa Cum Laude. We are all very proud of her. I made two of each design. I made a decision to leave them all blank inside. Can you tell what she told me her favorite color is?
Her actual graduation card will be in a later post.
(I hope tomorrow) : )

Another craft convention Somerset NJ

I decided to go with a quote in the category of "humorous but true", today. (...it made me chuckle out loud when I read it...)

Quote for today:
The chief cause of stress is reality. Lily Tomlin

Well, I went to N.J. for another craft convention with two of my favorite crafty peeps in the Philadelphia area (!) Karen and Rose. We had a grande time seeing what is new, and scoping out all the great bargains to be had...
It was a good day. From the looks of the parking lot, it was a good day for a whole lot of other ladies, too (as well as the venders)!

I am going to share a few tidbits from my crafting purchases with you, and then I need to get back to another project I am working on right now...

I used the candy background because I was thinking that these ribbons are rather sweet! I haven't seen these in the local crafts stores and hence they had to join my collection. I have many ideas for cards, and one of them is to work on multicolored sets that are actually inspired by the ribbons...I think I just created two more sets. Of course when these ideas come to fruition, they will be shared with you...
I didn't really get a great picture of them (they were so heavy) but those rings on the right side are being sold to help organize your ribbon. Well, they sold me. Once I have completed it, I will also share with you. (so many projects...) : )

I really thought these chips in the tubes would be a fun touch on male cards (one area I am sorely lacking in creativity). We'll see how it works out. Father's day is coming up, and although my dad is deceased, there are a few other males my son and I need to remember .

The mulberry papers in the photos below were hand made by two males who seemed a bit out of place at the convention. However, they had wonderful paper products. I thought they were unique, and can not wait to try them in a project. My sister in law and I were going to split the papers, even though they were priced very reasonably. But we couldn't agree on the green. How funny was it when I got home and opened my green paper and discovered it contained the same one that was showing on the outside of the pack she wanted! : D

Soooo very happy to purchase these quickcutz embossing folders above. They were only $3.49 each! What a bargain!!! : D The border ones were only $3 each.

The flowers in the jars are Prima. I know they have lost current popularity, but I'm going to
make some "flower pot" note cards. (another one of the many ideas I told you about, my head is swimming with um...) These are the softer colors. The next photo has the bold colors. They were also reasonably priced for the 3 jars @ $6. The newest prima flowers are fabulous! I saw some on "A New Design" (Ashley Newell) blog a few weeks ago after her shopping trip. I also saw them at this convention. I think I want to make my own though. They are made out of fabric and gathered ribbon. I have too much ribbon already NOT to make my own!
Those fabulous buttons are all wood. I just love them! (more embellishments for the male gender, right?)

Finally, do you see a trend in the stamps I purchased? They are mostly "Hero Arts", they are all in keeping with my passion for trees and leaves (do you sense another card set?), and I love them, too! Aren't they so cute? The little "crab" is of course the exception. My friend Karen found it for me. I thought I might use him to personalize my cards that I send to friends and family. I am, after all, all Cancer-the crab.

Finally, a closer look...Cheers!

Baby Announcement Cards for Nina

Quote for today:
If you haven't got all the things you want, be grateful for the things
you don't have that you don't want. Unknown

Baby Announcement Cards for NINA!

The card at the top is a sample only. It is NOT a photo of Nina. I just wanted to show how the photo would fit on the inside pocket. I also show the various stamped colors on the envelopes. I know there is only one colored envelope. It is the only color I had that was close. I stopped buying colored envelopes when I started getting my general paper supplies at XPEDX.
The photo is one of my many nephews, but it was just the size I was looking for. Also this isn't the image I originally tried to load. I got errors with the other image, and finally gave up after three attempts. The overall image quality of most of these cards is poor. I apologize for that. I tried to shoot them in a hurry to get them to her mother so she can get them out before the baby gets any older! (lol) ; D I normally take 2 or three shots of each one. I shot one only of each, and most of them stink! But you can still get the general idea...

These baby card announcements were made for a friend of mine. I was pretty happy with the way they turned out, and she said she was happy with them, too. Thank goodness! ; )
I was so glad she didn't mind that each of them was different. I don't usually enjoy making too many multiples of a card, hence I do not take orders for weddings, parties, etc... But these were kinda fun. I blocked out the names just in case she didn't want all the information on my blog. I actually made 40 different cards. This is a sampling of them (just slightly more than half).

I found a few "onesie" cards on SCS, and scoped the various shapes and techniques that were used. This is a combination of what I liked or thought would work best for me combined from all of them. These are not exactly perfect because I had to draw the template freehand for the overall shape and the "pants" pocket on the inside. I only found the 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 size on the internet, but that was not large enough for the photo she wanted to send, so this card is approximately 8 1/4 X 5 1/2.
Here goes...
Supplies will be listed at the very end...

I had to delete the inside of the card above from my post. I guess "sleepy eyes"
did not "edit" it properly. Sorry!

Another time the hasty photo-taking shows (above)!

I used a LOT of paper for this project. I needed mostly soft colors, and didn't have much 8 1/2 X 11 paper to accommodate that. I used all 12X12 sheets. Hence it was the first time I cracked open my Bazzill paper that I ordered from QVC. YES, I have been hoarding it!
: ) But it worked out well because I needed some of the extra paper for the matting on the front.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, The Paper Company, DCWV; Patterned Paper: PSX Paper Designs, Frances Meyer, Inc, Karen Foster Design, Flavia/ Colorbok, Rainbowworld by Masterpiece
Studio; Specialty Paper: DCWV (Nana's Nursery), Colorbok (glitter), DCWV (glitter); Sentiments: Computer generated; Accents: Stickers : Miss Elizabeth's (gold flowers), some unknown (butterfly, crown, flower bouquets, hearst ( maybe DCWV or JoAnn's Crafts), Sandylion (butterflies, purple flower), Sticko (mini flowers, mini hearts), Nicole (larger hearts), Papercraft Inspirations (misc.), Alphabet stickers/ unknown; Tools: circle punch by McGill, Templates: multiple embossing folders by Cuttlebug and Sizzix.
