Thanksgiving day parade with an American Idol!

Live and Learn and Pass it On:

I've learned that the great challenge of life is to decide
what's important and to disregard everything else. Age 51

Hello, friends and familiy....I know my photos are way behind because I am just now posting these Thanksgiving Day Parade pics, and it is already January. They have been sitting in an old post for weeks. Not sure why. But if you would like a peek at the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade...here it is (scroll to the end)...We did leave early because it started snowing, and I couldn't see through my glasses...

These are my "Christmas and Miles' birthday gift"-thank-you cards. They so need to get out in the mail...

Chocolate chip cookies and birthdays!

I am on a borrowed computer, and do not have my wonderful quoate book with me today. I was just going to share these pictures with you from some triple chocolate chip cookies I baked in November. I still have to bake cookies for my son's birthday. He likes snickerdoodles and sugar cookies, only. That will be when I get back home...

Here are the shots fome the triple chocolate chip...

These are my December birthday cards...I used a Christmas folder from Tim Holz, and party paper. I tried to keep it simple...
I was very happy with how they all turned out. And no stress... : )

Thanks for visiting. I do appreciate it. Bethann, Helen and Helen F. I will return to visiting your wonderful creations as soon as I can! Thanks for your support!

I hope to be back with my own computer in another week. We'll see...

Peace,

Christmas will be here soon...are you JUST finishing these cards?

These are most of the cards I managed to get done. I bought a couple graphics from Mo that I intend on using on Christmas cards, but as always, just couldn't find time to develop them properly. Her drawings are so great, I want to do them justice! :)
I am going to finish them for next year before I put them away though.

For now I'm going to switch to using quotes from a book I LOVE called "The Complete Live and Learn and Pass It On" by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. He compiled quotes from folks of all different ages, and he doesn't give their name, only the age they were when they sent the quote. So here is my Quote for today from this book:

"I've learned that if someone says something unkind about me,
I must live so that no one will believe it. (Age 39)

Now here are some of my cards:

I really like these December calendar cards. They were simple to do. I also used the December calendar embossing folder for all of my December birthday cards too, making that stress-free. Now if Tim only put one out for all 12 months! (I will show those birthday cards in a later post)

The supplies for this set will be at the end of the group.

The next series of cards were made with the cutest and most perfect gift tags ever! When I saw them in the store, immediately I knew they would be landing on greeting cards, and not gifts! : ) I didn't even have time to make them all, but eventually I will. This is the first six of a total of 20 different tags. They should have been quick and easy, but I really stressed over layouts. That's why I only got six done. And also I tried different papers for different looks. I just love to complicate my card making. : )
This time supplies will be directly under each card.

This guy reminds me of "Chilly Willy". Remember him? :)
Supplies: Cardstock-The Paper Co.; Patterned paper by DCWV; Accents- Handmade gift tags by Living Home Holiday, Heart Rhinestone by Oriental Trading Co, ; Sentiment Ribbon- JoAnns Crafts; Tools- Embossing folder by Cuttlebug, corner rounder by Creative memories, Snowflake Stamp on envelope and inside the card (not shown) by Provo Craft Simply Chic Stamps

All of these tall cards were designed because I bought a box of really nicely textured business envelopes, and wanted to make some cards for them. :)

I then decided I wanted to try a dark paper background, and...

...a light paper background....

I inked the edges of the white cardstock with various shades of green stampin up ink because I decided I did not like the stark white contrast. I was satisfied with the results.

Thanks for stopping by. I do not know if I will get any more posts in until after the holidays. I still have pictures from The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade I wanted to post, plus some shots of chocolate chip cookie baking...and of course a few more cards! But today I ship my computer out to HP (rats!). It suffers from a dying video card. This is the exact same thing that happened to my last HP laptop. Big difference ? this time I have additional insurance to cover the repairs. I am really done with HP once this computer dies and the insurance is gone. They give good service, but how about making a quality product to begin with? OK, I'm done ranting... : ) God actually blessed me with this 6 year old laptop to still be working. And I seriously almost gave it away. This time I' so glad I didn't because my son's Mac died also. So now he is using this little laptop to get his school research done.
Until next time (perhaps next year)
Wishing you all life's wonderful blessings through this Season of Celebration and the New Year!

Twas the Night before Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Twas the Night before Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas Poem also called “A Visit from St. Nicholas"

Clement Clarke Moore (1779 - 1863) wrote the poem Twas the night before Christmas also called “A Visit from St. Nicholas" in 1822. It is now the tradition in many American families to read the poem every Christmas Eve. The poem Twas the night before Christmas has redefined our image of Christmas and Santa Claus. Prior to the creation of the story of Twas the night before Christmas St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children, had never been associated with a sleigh or reindeers!

The author of the poem Twas the night before Christmas was a reticent man and it is believed that a family friend, Miss H. Butler, sent a copy of the poem to the New York Sentinel who published the poem. The condition of publication was that the author of Twas the night before Christmas was to remain anonymous. The first publication date was 23rd December 1823 and it was an immediate success. It was not until 1844 that Clement Clarke Moore claimed ownership when the work was included in a book of his poetry. Clement Clarke Moore came from a prominent family and his father Benjamin Moore was the Bishop of New York who was famous for officiating at the inauguration of George Washington. The tradition of reading Twas the night before Christmas poem on Christmas Eve is now a Worldwide institution.

Peace,
