My August visit to Sacramento

This isn't the best photo, but it gives a little glimpse of the perfect Saturday night I spent with my friends and their families. This was our view during dinner outside. A great space, great company and great food! I couldn't have asked for another thing! But I also got to watch the boys light fireworks on this perfectly calm and beautiful night in California. I think everyone had a good night, even the boys. It was a wonderful memory I will have forever...

Good morning! I wanted to share a few more pics from my visit to California. I was in Sacramento for a conference, and extended my time for a few days to have a long overdue visit with old friends. It was the most relaxing time I have spent in a very long time.

The words above I photographed at my friend Lisa & Terry's home. I really like it, it's something to strive for.

Lisa, Gavin and Wesley took me to See's candy store. It was a total treat in every way. I have never been to a candy store like it before. Their chocolate was the best! Thanks Lisa!

Julie also took me to a great candy store with fantastic chocolate in Old Folsom. I was living the life...
We also went to Joe's Crab Shack in Old Sacto. The food was great!

I thought this sign at Joe's was cute.

I thought this doll could make a nice addition to my doll collection. Naaaaahhh, just kidding. ;)

The capitol building and park were across the street from my hotel.

This photo and the one above, I took from a bridge overlooking the entrance to "Old Sacramento" coming from the mall/downtown area. And speaking of the mall, it seemed almost desolate. Hate to say it, but in the streets leading up to this area, I saw more homeless, street people and panhandlers and "crazies" than I have seen in any given week in Philadelphia. I was shocked, saddened, and amazed.
This shot was taken in the mall. Do you see any people? I didn't. OK, maybe one. It was the middle of a saturday afternoon. Talk about feeling the recession?...

This was at the entrance to the mall, and inside, it was pretty empty, too.

  1. Do you know why the moon was so bright that night? It was the moon festival or sometime called Chinese Valentine’s Day. There’s a story related to the moon festival, Mu Lan and another one.
