SCROLL DOWN FOR CARDS FOR THE CAARDVARK STICKER CHALLENGE2
Using Scraps, and other "older" embellishments....
Hello!! I have been trying to post more frequently, and I must say, the weather is cooperating even when other factors in my life don't! ;) (quote for today is from "Daily strategies" by US Games Systems, Inc.)
My quote for today is:
You can't get the best from people by lighting a fire beneath them;
find a way to light a fire within them. Bob Nelson
Check out this post if you have the time. The blog is
"Simplicity".This is something I have been wanting to do even before I came across this post:
Check it out if you can. It's not about whether or not you like her style (which I think is great), but what she says about hoarding...now, if you are a true crafter, go on and admit you know at least a little about hoarding.
That gorgeous paper you just HAD to have, that you even bought at full price (one sheet only), and it has been waiting for months (or years) for just the right project...Those great metal charms and frames (or plastic ones)...you bought them to make cards for your childs teachers when he was in 5th or 6th grade, and you waited so long to make the cards that year- that you ended up doing a CAS (clean and simple card) cause you ran out of time.
Well, now darnit, your "child", is in high school! No one makes gifts for high school teachers, do they? ....Oh, yes..., I was supposed to be talking in general, wasn't I?... Well, I think you get my drift.
I'm trying to start using up some of my supplies. And any one who knows me, knows- it will not be easy... But today is a start. Every time I get back to "scraps", I will make it a continuation of this blog. And yes, all paper used on these cards are paper "scraps".
I keep a dozen folders in a file bin near my feet. Each one is filled with a different color, sitting in this crate. I love it! I used to keep them stored on a shelf across the room. I used them every once in a while. Now I will go there first, and then if I don't find what I'm looking for, I will go to the full size paper (for all projects). This has really been working for me. Plus it makes it so much easier to file "scraps" after a project (yeah, right)...
So, some of the papers you will see in these posts is left over from projects I completed in the past 5-6 years. I know it is sad, but you have to start somewhere, right? And my fellow blogger Susan over at Symplicity, inspired me to push on to the next point, which was (1) stop talking about "it", and (2) start "being about it"...
I guess she was sort of my "Friday trigger" : ) (Thanks Susan!)...and so it begins...Let me know what you think!...
On a side note in the adventures of "Rachel-land": Wouldn't you know it!...
While working in my craft room, I am listening to mellow music, and enjoying the scent of liquid potpourri I have in a simmer pot. (uh,oh...) Well, I bought a new chair (the rolling kind) and I absolutely love it! But, last night the legs of it got caught up in my electrical cords- mainly the simmer pot cord. I had no idea, and when I turned the chair around, the entire pot and it's contents flew off my craft table all over everything! For some reason I had placed 5 of my "newly minted - scrap" cards where I have never put them before (directly in the line of fire-why???), but they were all ruined (lots of things had to be cleaned, but of course, that was the only un-salvageable casualty). I took a photo of the cards before they went in the trash, so you can see for yourself. (Helen, this was my first time FINALLY using your beautiful crocheted flowers, yes! those three were ruined!- the sad face...) The picture will be at the very bottom of this post....
I apologize in advance for the photography this time. It was hard to photo those beaded sentiments. I did the best I could...
FINALLY...The reason the base of these cards are all chocolate is no reason other than I was working on a challenge for Embellish magazine. That was the reason I was using these particular stickers. Something in my head told me to use up the whole sheet. So that is what all these cards have in common. They all came from the same SEI Sparkler sticker sheet. I bought them at convention last July real cheap, and now I know why. The beads come off like crazy....
Without further ado, here are my "scrap cards..."
