Last day of 2009, THANK YOU FRIENDS & FAMILY

Hey, hello all. I hope everyone is keeping warm and such.

I have been traveling for the past several days, so I have not been on the internet. I just returned on tuesday, and it looks like in the nick of time (see below).

I woke up to a little more snow today. It is the very last day of the year already....2009 wasn't much of a year for me, so I am not unhappy to say goodbye to it. Although it was just another in a long line of bad years lately.

Hey, we're starting a new decade, so I know it's gonna be great! I look forward to seeing 2010. I look forward to making it a better year. The first in a continuing line of better years for my son and I. I don't think I will post any photos today unless I do it much later. Yesterday my water heater broke, and I had lots of water in the basement. Today I am still cleaning it up. Not to mention the price quotes made me feel ill. But you have to have hot water, right? I was lucky to be able to get it replaced last night.

I just wanted to leave a note of thanks to those old friends and family members and any new friends I have encountered recently in my blog travels. I really appreciate you visiting my blog, and especially appreciate it when you leave a comment (Helen, Bethann).

Thanks for all your support in my cardmaking endeavors.

Sympathy card for Ada

This is a sympathy card for my next door neighbor. She just lost her grandmother recently.

This is a technique I learned from my very patient friend Helen! Thank you so much Helen. I have many more of these cards coming to my blog one day soon. : ) I made some in every single color ink pad I own from Stampin Up. About 25-30 different colors. I LOVE how they turned out!

Embellish.Com Magazine Challenge and FTL71

Hiya! Well, I decided to try a couple challenges today. Even though I really need to finish (start) my Christmas Thank you cards. Plus my sister told me it is time to get all those handmade cards I've been photographing in the mail to folks. Humph! I don't normally get them in the mail until Dec. 23 or so. But I guess I will get them out this week. I hope I have all the addresses I need... : ) I guess that is why I usually also make New Year's cards, but I didn't make any this year.

Anyway....the challenges I chose to do are (1) Embellish Magazine.Com Color Challenge and (2) from Clean and Simple the sketch challenge FTL71.

I actually thought it would be easier than it was, but I probably complicated it for myself. This is my first foray back into the challenge world since my computer collapsed back in July. I liked both the color choices and the layout. I tried...What do you think?

Day 273 4 365 Cards, No Christmas cards this post... : )

Happy Thursday! I checked out 365 cards and the paper I wanted to use for this card was being used for the challenge. How lucky for me. Now maybe I can get back in the swing at 365...

I made these quick cards for a coworker who needed them for Sympathy Thank you's. The inside reads: It is difficult to express all that your kindness and thoughtfulness has meant. We greatly appreciated all that was done in our time of need.

I think I was inspired by some of the artists I saw at one of the card conventions I attended

(with my friend Karen), when I sat down and made these cards. I really like how they turned out. Maybe one day I will submit them.

This is another card that is not my usual style. I was trying something different. Also inspired after a visit to a craft convention. This is a stenciled card.

Still making Christmas cards...and a few note cards for a gift

These are almost the last Christmas cards I will do before I move on. I still have to make my Christmas thank you cards, although since we are all cutting back so much, I probably won't need very many of those. I bought this reindeer stencil over the summer from a stampin up rep. in Virginia. I was looking forward to using it this Christmas. I'm sure I will use it again and again. I really like it. This set was quick and easy.

These cards were made for a friends birthday that is coming up. I missed a lot of birthdays this year, but this friend always looks out for me. Her birthday is ingrained in my brain so I don't forget. :) She is absolutely the easiest person to do anything for. She is appreciative of anything you do, and lucky for me she loves blank notecards! I picked these monogram notecards up in Marshalls. I look for nice designs sometimes that will look even nicer once they are embellished. I stamped the designs on them, traced them out in glitter pen and added some bling. I think they turned out pretty cute. This is just a sampling because I am doing a set of 12 (each card will be different). I am only posting these 4. I tried to match the image color ink to the color of the monogram that was already debossed on the card.

Misc Cards...

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. So many of us have so much to be thankful for. I know for us, it is almost too many blessings to name. Of course there always seems to be something you can complain about, but we are truly, truly blessed.

This is a Christmas card I made for a co-worker to give to his wife. He is a very talented and award winning photographer. Acadia Photography, David M. Sacerdote, 215-281-3951 . His website is: www.acadiaphotography.com The photo is one he actually gave to me (one of many), he didn't know I would be using it for the card. He is so generous with his pictures. I am going to make a set of notecards for him to give his wife for Christmas, also using his photos. I plan to embellish them with some dimensionals, but keep them simple. Hope to post that soon.

This card is a case of a card I made for a Thank you in an earlier blog. I changed a few things. The ribbon is wider, I added a bow and pearls, and a different computer generated sentiment.
But I kept the paper the same (it's DCWV flocked). I really like this paper. The paper on the inside of the card has a fingerprint running across it- as it is a retirement card for a woman retiring from California Dept of Justice. She has been a member of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System users group for many years. I still wanted to keep it simple. Thinking in this case, (hoping) "less is more".
