In this post I combined three cards with birthday wishes for my good friends and neighbors Mike and Ada, and for my son, Miles who just turned 17.

This is Miles card. I have been saving this photo for a long time. It was taken almost 10 years ago in Ocean City, Maryland. That has been one of my favorite places to visit besides Disneyworld, that is.

As I approach the beach there is something magical about the ocean air that lifts all my cares and worries away for as long as I'm there. It is so peaceful, and relaxing. I haven't been able to spend dedicated time there like I would want since Miles started school, but he is a senior this year, so prayerfully I will be getting back to the beach. A good friend of mine has already suggested we use it this year as a "craft retreat week" What could be better than that? I'm all for it! :)

I had to add the red because it is his favorite color, and I blinged the 17 because he loves a little bling!

I was inspired to make this card after browsing the internet and someone made a card using that statement "Enjoy the Ride"....immediately it reminded me of his photo, and I took it from there...

So if you happen upon this blog, and you remember using that sentiment on a project recently- I thank you for the inspiration.

The inside is very long. It was taken from one of my many favorite inspirational books.

The poem is mostly intact, however I did adapt it to my young man for the purpose of this very special birthday.

This next card was created at a Stampin Up gathering. I love everything about it. The fall colors, the leave image, the embossing folder.

This is the card that was created for my neighbor and friend Ada. I'm not sure how old she turned, but I do know that she is significantly younger than me, and is a real mother in every way. She has four beautiful daughters of various ages (2 younger and 2 older) and she runs her household like nobodies business! She does so much for and with her girls, it is amazing! I am always in awe of what I call "real parents" (those with more than one kid, lol) I don't know how they do it. Sometimes I feel ready for the loony bin, and then I just say a prayer and keep it moving...I always remember another favorite poem of mine by Helen Steiner Rice "This too shall pass away...") In fact, these days I have to remember that poem EVERY SINGLE DAY...

And last, but certainly not least, here is a card for Ada's husband, Mike. I forgot to tell you that Ada and Mike are always inviting me to dinner, and shamlessly, I rarely say no! They are the best cooks, and I think (according to Ada) Mike cooks a little more. He makes a lot of mean dishes I can attest to! They do so many things for me throughout the year, I try to remember them on their birthdays.

Keep in mind I am still stressed about situations occuring with my teen on a weekly basis, so that doesn't help me get into a creative mindset. But..."This too shall pass..." :)

These mini cards were made for a friend who makes gift baskets. I thought she could give them to her customers to include with their baskets when they give them away. That is why I tried to make them kind of general. They can write a small note inside. I have found from making cards for several people that many do not want to have to write much, sometimes signing their name is too much.

I have so many ideas in my head that I want to translate into cards! I'm trying to get started now. I want to make several sets of cards to give away as gifts. I will be working on that throughout the year.

I actually made more than I'm showing here, but I gave them away (AGAIN!) before I remembered to photograph them. This seems to be becoming a bad habit!....

I'm having a Stampin Up party next month, and I am making some cards to give away as a thank you for every one who comes out. I will also try to make a couple sets to give away as "door prizes". We shall see how that goes...LOL

Now I am a tea drinker, so this is probably my favorite of the whole bunch. :) This was made using some old Jolee dimensional stickers.

The Other Birthday Card....

This was supposed to be two similar birthday cards that I made, only as I went to post them, I found out I already delivered one of them without taking a photo (horrors!) Oh well... This one is similar to the Mojo Monday card for my sister in the previous post, but I did not follow the design as I did for hers. Everyone that you make cards for does not understand using multiple color schemes just so you can enter a card in a challenge! lol

Here's the birthday card....the lady it was for loves her cat. I loved the color of that paper!

It's a little different. Plus I'm showing you the inside on this one...

The cards below are actually the cards I made for my girlfriend whose card was similar to the one above, but I forgot to photograph it. Again I selected some of the cards from the ones below and put them in the box at the end of the post. One day I will learn to make some prettier packaging, but for now this is working out ok...I think. :)

The paper used for these cards looks much prettier in person (I know we all say that, but it's true!) It is the pearlized paper by Core-dinations. Makes the "ordinary" a little more special. :)

Happy New Year to all my friends and family. I hope we can all make this a most productive year!

(I actually started a quite different post on Dec. 23rd and never completed it, and in my "not thinking state" completely erased it today, and started this one. duh...) :)

Today (January 1, 2012) my sister Bethann is having a very special birthday! She is turning 50! It's hard for me to believe because she is my "baby" sis. lol But...she is! Welcome aboard, sister!

This is a long post today which I haven't done in a long while, but I made a set of cards for her birthday, and I made so many I then had to decide which ones to put in a set. So the cards I have posted here are what I chose from.

Here is her birthday card. This card is actually a Mojo Monday design (Christmas week), but I ran out of time to post it before I left traveling for the holiday week, so.... oh well.... : /

It is actually like a forrest green glitter paper, gold on the bottom, white pearlized sizzix embossed with the numbers, spellbinder diecut circle with several clear and black rhinestones.

Here are the cards. The bird cards for some reason I turned into birthday cards. The rest of the cards I left blank inside. Some she will be able to utilize as she sees fit, depending on the sentiment on the front. The stamps are from various companies...

They were relatively simple to create, I just picked out my embossing frames, some sentiments or quotes, colored cord and multiple rhinestones.

I'm not sure if these embellishments came from Jolee's or Nicolecrafts? I know I just made them, but I threw all of the packaging away.... : /

These felt embellishments are from American Crafts.

I don't know what happened at this point in my blogging. I changed my email address because I am sick of Verizon and am planning my exit strategy for my eventual departure. : ) However, it did cause a problem with blogger. : /

The flower die cuts are by K & Co. I just picked the ones out of the package I liked the best that I thought would work with these frame designs.

Well, this concludes my post for this first day of 2012. It promises to be a bountiful year. But regardless of what goes on, through it all.... I have my sisters!

The almost last Christmas Post for 2011

Hello Friends and family!

This will be the last post with Christmas cards. I have one more with Christmas Thank you cards that my son and I will send out for the people that have thought of us this holiday season. Due to all of the expenses for Senior year and post high school tuition, I had to do an extreme cut back on Christmas gifts this year. So I don't think I will need too many thank you cards to send out. Although we have already recieved at least 3 gifts in the mail...

I am closing in on my last few posts for 2011, so I thought this would be a fitting quote to start off with...

I know those words oh so well. I never intended to be a single mom. I always knew myself well enough to know it would not be my strength. But here I am. God knew better. It has been the hardest experinence of my life, but so far, we are both still standing...

About today's cards....I went to a Stampin' Up "Stamp Camp" through my friend Kathy- where we made these cards. We made a few more, but they were more for Thanksgiving, so I didn't post. Maybe eventually. Kathy designed the snowman card which is also a magnet. I thought it was very cool.

Sounds like my kind of advice. I like it! Laugh as much as you can- laughter just makes you feel good...if you are with someone who NEVER appolgizes (even if that someone is you)- there is something wrong there-try to work on it... and sometimes it's definitely hard to let go,, but sometimes that's all you can do...

I really like how this one turned out. More non-traditional colors.

I found these snowflake ornaments last year and thought they would be flat enough

to use on cards. I didn't trust any adhesive, so I sewed them on (too much glitter).

This paper is great, too. I LOVE DCWV (the Natural foil stack)! (so hard to make just one!)

That is the reason I push in between the imperfect conditions

to make cards (as well as other things......, HAHAHA!) : )

I fell in love with this snowman label, and bought a couple packages. I thought he would make a really cute focal point for a Christmas card. I still think I was right. :) I didn't have enough of any one ribbon so I used a lot of different ribbon scraps. Not sure which is my favorite. ... I moved the snowman's position on the background paper depending on where the Merry Christmas was (as well as I could), and varied between red or gold heart brads. I also added rhinestones to the small snowflakes that didn't already have them. All in all, I was happy with how they turned out.

and my sizzix template thru my wizard! The tree topper

is a brad with a rhinestone in the middle. Easy, peazy!

The Christmas Cardmaking begins...

Hello, dear friends. This will be a short posting. Due to the fact that Thanksgiving is upon us, I selected this quote. I know we really should give thanks daily for our blessings, and despite the issues I have been dealing with lately- that have been very stressful to me; I know my blessings are bountiful. I am thankful for so many things, not the least of which are the love and support of my family and friends. Even friends I have met through my blogging, that I may never lay eyes on face to face. I am thankful for those of you that have loved or cared about me, supported me and especially Miles. Thank you- Thank you- Thank you!

Susan's Birthday Set

I have two Quotes for today, and they are for my Sister Susan in honor of her birthday...

I wanted to make my sister, Susan a nice set of cards for her 60th birthday. I didn't have a lot of time (although you might argue that I have had a full year, lol). But unfortunately, I don't operate like that these days.

And lately I have been consumed by a situation that is occuring at my son's school. This is his senior year (hooray!) and he has had a rough three years prior. He mostly got in trouble for being outspoken and not turning in all of his assignments. The "outspoken" part is pretty much what "did him in", but unfortunately, he just didn't "get it"- and the school being equally, if not more culpable in their actions, reactions made for three very difficult years. But here we are, the last one. One of my favorite poems is one by Helen Steiner Rice where she talks about "And this too shall Pass away." It has, and it does. Nothing lasts forever. You do not stay in any one place forever. What has been happening at my son's school...It makes no sense to me. I went to public school and had a pretty good 4 years there. We had a great Principal, Dr. Ruth Klein. Maybe it starts there. I wanted the same for him. He had prior spent 9 years in private school, but with the end of my marriage came the end of that. I guess it was a rough transition for us both.

Anyway, that was a long explanation to tell you why I sorta "lunched" on my sisters cards. (I was super distracted?) But in the end I was quite happy with them, and she appeared to be also. She is a little harder for me to make cards for because last year she spoke the unspeakable revelation that she actually "hated" flowers on her cards! Flowers, you said?!? I was horrified! Why, flowers is my absolute specialty! lol Whatever can I put on a card for you, make it fabulous- if not flowers?!? (The same way I feel when I am challenged to make a card for a male). Thank you lovely sister for this challenge. : D

So, the reason why I say "lunched" is because I wanted to make her a small coordinating set in a matter of a few days. I have thousands of sheets of paper. How will I find the time to coordinate it all into something special for such a wonderful, supportive, caring person?

Well, lucky for me the first cube I started looking through thankfully!, thankfully!- (there are about 20 in my craft room? Yikes! In my only defense I will say they are NOT all full. I could probably condense them down to 18)- held the key to my success! A 360 sheet pack of paper called the Best of K and Company! Yes!! I found 8 sheets that would mostly coordinate and a sheet of quotes! How sweet was that? OK, you be the judge...

Once again, I am no Helen!

However, this is the little box I came up with to hold the card set.

I made 4.75X4.75 cards. The actual birthday card was 6X6.

I decided to go with a square set to change it up a little.

(You don't have to tell me that this box looks familiar. smile

It is the only kind I know how to make with a short deadline

(and who am I kidding, for real...with or without a deadline...)

I actually had another shot of it with the card, but I loaded it 3X's and although it was the correct orientation in my folder, it kept turning sideways on the load. Does anyone know how I could correct that in the future? (If you have actually read this far? lol) I would appreciate the insight.

And while I'm at it. I haven't been able to load any cards to my SplitCoast Stamper Gallery. Each time I try to load, I get a message that tells me the files are too large (something like that). How do I make the correction on my camera so I can put some more cards in my gallery? Thanking you in advance!

Good morning! I am keeping this entry short. I have been wanting to make mini card sets to give away as gifts. Remember in the past when you might add a mini card to a gift such as for a baby shower, or wedding....rather than a full sized card? That's what I'm going for.

They measure approx 2"X3". I love how they turned out so much that now I'm working on a slightly larger size. 2 1/4" X 4 1/4". Hope to post in a couple of weeks.

Of course I SHOULD be working on Christmas cards.... : /

A friend of mine lost her mother last week. They buried her this past Monday. She was saying today that they were cleaning out her mother's residence, and she was surprised that she was able to do it. It just reminded me of this quote. I have definitely found it to be true.

I don't know why I ended up doing graduation cards. I know I still had some stuff on my table from when I worked on some back in July/August. Then I went scrounging for more stuff. I'm gonna put it all away tonight. (for real) No more graduation cards for a while. I will need to make one for my son, but I'll wait until after the hoildays to do it. I made a half dozen. It's time to get started on those Christmas cards, right??

Now these are the photos I culled from all of the photos I took out in Nevada. It is still very long. If you don't have time to scroll through, I did add a couple cards at the end... just because. They are not necessarily my greatest work because I was rushing to get them done for "events". I know you know what I mean. But have a peep anyway, if you must. Today I think the photos may be more interesting. lol

Here we go...

On the way to the "M" hotel which is abot 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip. It is located in Henderson, Nevada. The purpose: to attend the 25th annual AFIS Internet, Inc. Convention.

And by the way...I already know that these photos are not the best. #1 I'm not a photographer. I just play one in real life. And #2 Most of these shots were hurried. I had REAL work to do. : D But I knew I wanted to document some of these things on my blog.

Our Monday morning conference begins...

Where the "magic" happens... Really I'm just being silly. NEC has developed some facial reccognition software, and they utilized a "fun" exhibit this year- scanning your face with a phone and matching it to a database of celebrities. But in this area was the serious software/hardware also...several venders.

Some of the great breakout sessions we attended.

And some more...sounds pretty interesting, right?

The Monday night entertainment?: The Rat Pack. I figured I better tell you because you may have never guessed. Except in this quite awful photo (the flash on my inexpensive camera sucks after the sun goes down) the guy in the middle does favor Sinatra slightly...and we were near Vegas...They were quite good, too.

A side trip before one of my meetings, to the only tourist outing I made during the conference.

Red Rock Canyon. I have to say that is is breathtaking in person. I'm certain these photos can not begin to express the visual delight that one might feel in person. But it is the best I can do for you. :)

On our way down out of the mountains we ran across these visitors...

One night we left the hotel just in time to visit "Old Las Vegas" briefly, to see the light show.

I don't know how I managed to keep my eyes open so late...but somehow I did manage... :)

There seem to be several folks who make their living standing still in lots of make-up like statues. I encountered it this summer when we spent a week at the shore. Is this a practice that dates back any time, or is it something pretty new based on our economic times?...

I so wish I was quicker to take a photo of these guys. They were all wearing KISS make-up. They probably would have posed for a photo if I'd asked. Although there were two guys made up like celebrities just standing out in front of the casinos that refused to be photographed unless we paid them money. Didn't get those pictures... : /

This was my only visit to the Strip after my conference concluded.

I already knew I don't care for gambling. This pretty much reinforced it.

I would love the shows in Vegas, but you have to either have lots of dough

for THEM, or lots of dough for gambling so someone else pays for them...

We took this mode of transportation which only went 3 stops. But it got us closer to the Bellagio with all those great indoor shots.

This looked like chocolate that was flowing from the ceiling in this sweet shop.

Found this reminder of home. Oh yes, of course there were other team flags there. I just didn't have time to shoot them all. lol

And the moment you've all been waiting for. hahahaha. Yes, I went to Vegas, and all I REALLY wanted to do was visit HOBBY LOBBY. Had I not made it to the strip of hotels it would have been fine. I'm glad I did get there just so I know...

A quick card I needed for a bridal shower. Thanks to Stampin Up, DCWV and K & Company- I made it happen. BY the way, I thought her invitation was way prettier. It looked like a wedding invitation. And the shower seemed like a reception. Can't wait for the actual wedding reception! Speaking of which...I better get busy on the card, huh?... :)

Oh, and it turns out...she is really into butterflies. :)

A card for some of the men in my life...my son didn't like the ladybug on there, but I argued with him that since the ladybug is actually a male, I took that license. He still didn't agree.

...I have been away for a very long time from the Tuesday Trigger. And the only reason I really was able to participate in this one was because Cath actually extended it for a second week! But it must have been meant to be, because I just made it (it IS sunday afternoon). :)

I hope I can get back to doing this challenge again. I really like the versatility of it as opposed to some other more specific challenges. I have tried them and they are really no fun! I made myself a promise not to participate in the challenges unless I could actually USE the card that was created...

OK. Now I know you are wondering why it has taken me so long to post these graduation cards that were not only completed long ago in 2011, but also have been delivered to the intended recipients, and are no longer in my posession. The answer...don't ask, I really can't tell ya. I'm just moving like a snail. The past several years have taken a toll on me, and I just seem to be moving slower and slower...

But the good news is...here they are now. (hahaha) Don't forget to let me know what you think!

This first card and the last one were made from a design I saw on the internet. It wasn't a graduation card, it was a monotone anniversary card. It was embossed circles and pearls. Very pretty. I really liked the design, and that is what I borrowed. I liked how the last one came out a lot better, but I was unable to duplicate it. So I went rectangle.

This second xard was created for a young lady moving from middle school into high school. I know Dr. Seuss is probably more for lower school, but I really liked this poem from him and thought it was appropriate . I also like how this card turned out. Not sure what I would have done differently.

This card was made for a young man who is a big basketball player. He was a star on his high school team, and also intends on going to college and playing basketball for his college team. The design is the same one used for the get well card I posted recently. This is how I make the cards and then use them how I need them sometimes.

This is the last one I was talking about. I love how this one turned out. But it is truly "one of a kind" because I will never be able to make another one like it. :)

CARDS FOR A DOOR PRIZE...

Hello, dear friends and family. I know it has been almost 2 months since my last post. I have created a few cards, but not nearly as many as you might expect. I suppose that summer obligations got the better of my time...

The cards I am sharing with you today is a set made for someone to be used as a door prize for a fund-raising event. Making these cards was a challenge because I was given fabric to work with. Each card is different because a set comprised of a variety was required.

Also, I recently returned from Vegas. My next post will show those photos. Yes, I went to Vegas and visited Hobby Lobby! Found some great stuff there, too! Their prices aren't better than JoAnn's or AC Moore, and unfortunately....I had no coupon!!! But they did carry manufacturers I have not seen in the East Coast craft stores.

The only thing this "set" has in common is the fact that each of them has a piece of fabric incorporated into the design. The set includes (1) Birthday/male, (2)Thinking of you, (3) Thank you, (4) birthday/female, (5) sympathy and (6) get well. I started off with a masculine birthday....

A Get Well Card for an AFIS Board member

Hellooooooo! I know I have been away from blogging for a while. I have had some more issues with the internet. Not exactly like before, but I could not update my blog. I'm even having problems as I try make this entry, but I'm going to keep it simple and hopefully get it done.

This is a Get Well card I created based off of a design I saw on the internet. I wish I could show you the card, but I am not organized enough to label where the card came from, except that it said "by Trudy". : ( Sorry. Trudy if you should ever make you way to my blog I am not claiming this as my original design, it was totally inspired by your card!

This is what I changed. Her card was a rainbow of color (very pretty), mine all shades of blue, her sentiment was printed on a white oval matted with red. It was also a Get Well card. and she had white grosgraine ribbon tied in a knot -running up the left side side. I thought I would leave off the ribbon, as this card was intended for a male. I used a different shape for my sentiment, also matted. She used 6 strips of border, I used eight. Even though I did add the rhinestones. I thought I could get away with that. : ) I liked this design so much I replicated it in about 5 colors, all monotone that can again be completed for various occasions. I used one done in all browns for a graduation card for a basketball star. : ) I'll show you soon.

Almost Finished! 4th Post...The red set...(...the last set for now...)

I know you are probably wondering why I used that darn leaf folder each and every time. Well, you see, it was NOT the only folder I used, but at the time

had just taught me the technique, and I wanted to try it with every Stampin Up shade of ink I owned (not really that many). This folder worked the best, so I used it the most. See. Simple.

These are my 3/4 completed cards. I just came up with this easy layout and I complete them 3/4 of the way. The last part will be completed when it's needed. I'm going to show you the card now, and again at some point in the future. When it is needed it will be customized for that occasion whether it is birthday, thinking of you, congratulations or sympathy. Then you can see exactly what I am talking about... Here's the 4th and last installment for a while...

I konw these cards are almost all the same. I just wanted to try different flower centers, and two different ribbons/trims...

Next card post is a totally different direction. I think you'll like it.

Flashback Friday Challenge First Wedding Card

This week's challenge is to post your first wedding card. Now they don't specify if it is the first you ever made or the first you ever posted. In my case the first one I ever made I would have no record of because I did not always photograph my cards. So this card is the first one I ever posted. It was very interesting scrolling back through my past original blog entries to look at all of the cards I have posted in the past two years. When I very first started, I didn't even know how to edit my cards so I posted them all sideways. lol (yes, really!) The time has flown by, and I haven't always been consistent, but I started my blog at a very unstable time for me. It was right after the break up of my marriage. So this was like the one thing I did for me. I wanted to make it about the craft to have a happier focus. But from time to time as I reviewed in search of that wedding card, I saw some other life events pop into my blogging. Well, I'm still here, and I think I have grown a lot in this blogging adventure. And the best part is, I have made some great friends... as a whole new world has opened up to me that I certainly never knew existed.

Mother'Day Designs 2011

One day soon I will not feel rushed to create the cards that are my gifts to friends and family. Right now I don't feel I am at my best because I rush to make something to send out because everyone knows I make cards, and may be offended if they don't get a handmade one for their specific event or occasion. Of course I still enjoy it, but I want to be able to take my time and get more creative, try different fun techniques. Soon, and one day soon... : )

Because this is a post filled with Mother's Day Cards I will post another poem about Mothers.

Although many of these cards may look the same at first glance, there are varied subtle changes if I placed them here. With the first two below-the card on the right is missing the silver leaves. It was intentional because I wanted to see how it would look without them. I think I liked it better with the leaves. Also the centers of the felt flowers are different. Can you guess what I used for the centers? I wonder if you can?! lol I LOVE that soft yellow rick rack trim; the soft color and the soft feel of it. I also loved the soft blue felt flowers on this one. I also LOVE this paper stack. It is called Lemon Flower Stack by DCWV. I so love paper! (one day I will show you just how much! Susan, Bethann, Karen and Helen already know!) This card was actually developed because of a challenge on Moxie Fab that I never made the post. But it's all good....

So you can see these are the very similar design, but a different orientation.

New design. This card was designed around this fabulous paper that I found at Papyrus, where they sell the most fabulous paper and cards! I will be making some more cards using paper from there and The Paper Source! The paper is quite expensive if you think about only making one or two cards. But if you like to make cards in bulk (3,6,12 of a similar design) like I do, you can make a lot of cards from one sheet which sells from $4 to $12 a sheet. When you consider that you can get 48-180 sheets of different papers for about $10-$20. It does seem expensive. But let's face it...the paper makes the card. The nicer it is, the nicer your card has a chance of looking. : ) I usually gage my recipient's response on what my son thinks of a finished project, and he didn't like these- so I was a little worried. But after spending several weeks working on them, of course, I ran out of time and had to send them out. I was pleasantly and happily surprised with my friend's and families responses. So that let me know that I can not always use my son as a judge. You never know sometimes what really appeals to people. Anyway, long story longer...it started with the paper, and went from there...the die cuts are K and Company. I fell in love with the birds and butterflies. So...birds...butterflies...flowers...beauty...Mothers!

I LOVE how this card turned out. I think it was the color combination. I love that soft blue in the background of this fabulously embossed paper by DCWV (they really know what they are doing when they create these paper stacks!)...

The butterfly is black and felty; wonderfully textured- by Colorbok. Then I punched a butterfly from Martha Stewarts punch out of vellum paper, then added a rhinestone. I think the Thinking of you came from a M.S.E. (My Sentiments Exactly) set. I'm in the process of cataloging all my sets so I can't tell you this moment.

Still can't get the full effect of that butterfly...

These are the same design as I posted earlier, only I used the wonderful butterflies from that K and Company set.

I did not send all of these cards out for Mother's Day, either. Once I started making them, I just made several so I might have some extra on hand for another occasion.

Again, this is a tip that I use frequently. I make my cards 75 % and I complete them when I need them. That way the design is usually customizable. I think this card could be used for Get Well, birthday or a simple Thinking of you. The inside stays blank, and sometimes there is even room on the front to customize.

Well I must say this is the most I have typed in probably months of blogging. I still have a couple more posts to put together. I have been working on several cards that again may be put to use for multi-purpose. Birthday, congratulations, thinking of you, get well, etc... Sometimes I need a card to send out, and my head isn't in the card making space I need it to be in to get it done. I also have to post my Stamp Camp adventure a month or so ago. I want to show those projects. And last I must say that this is the first time in 5 years that I have missed every single Spring craft convention! It is normally what I do for me, but alas and alack...there has been too many other things going on, and I just haven't made it to any. I am registered for the Valley Forge Scrapbooking Convention that will be here in July, 2011. So at least I know I'll be there!

Hi, I have another short post tonight. I made this 50th birthday card for a good friend. I was actually very pleased with how it turned out. The paper was actually a metallic grey/black. And shock of all shocks- I just purchased it within the last two weeks, and I thought it was perfect for the look I was trying to achieve. My lighting wasn't the best, and therefore these pictures didn't turn out that great. I wish I would have had the time to shoot them in a natural light.

These two cards were sent to members of AFIS Internet, a law enforcement organization that has been in existence for 25 years this year. It was sent to these individuals to congratulate them on promotions they recently received.

The cards are simple basic designs that I work 3/4 through and then finish them off based on the need. That way I can make them Sympathy, birthday, Get Well...whatever...I love working my card designs this way because I don't often have time to create something brand new- especially when I need a card for work. Especially Sympathy. I really need to create more cards to be used in this way.

Same basic design, but I still love how they turned out so different. And I'm sure you noticed- no sentiment on the outside. I personalized them each inside very specifically addressing the new job title(s). I know at least one lady said hers was beautiful.

Well, it has been a long time since I have posted anything. But I should have a few posts over the next few days. My internet is still acting crazy, but I don't have the time to replace the company just yet. Eventually I will have to do something. It gets ridiculous sometimes...

1. I am the single (divorced) mother of a male teenager. I have hated that word (divorced), it hasn't been easy to accept. But all things in time, right?...

2. I LOVE card making, and hope to create more time to submit cards for possible publication eventually. There never seems to be enough time for that right now, other responsibilities always seem to come first.. I have so many cards ideas sometimes I think my head will explode! lol

3. I feel so blessed to have made some good new friends in this "blogisphere". Everyone is so caring and patient, and seems to love to teach you new techniques.

4. I wish to relocate to some part of Virginia after retirement, which I hope to do in approximately 5 years. I almost feel like I can touch it.

5. 36 Years in law enforcement started with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Time has passed so quickly.

6. I also like for friends to call me Rae...not Rach. I hate Rach. People call me that a lot.

7. I love reading action/adventure books, watching the same types of movies as well as comedies, and listening to oldies from the 70's-80's.

Good morning! I am trying to quickly post this while I still can get on the Internet. VERIZON has the worst customer service around, and I can not wait to find a new internet service provider. My service is the WORST!! But on to better stuff!...

My son's high school put on this play last week, and they were sooo good!!!

Good morning! Well, what can I say...I just LOVE the Tuesday Trigger over at Movie Fab. And it's Saturday, and I have loads of stuff to do, but I just had to finish my trigger card...Hope you like it! I made it for two very special friends!

Here's the trigger...

Here's my take...

I decided to paper piece my boots. I always wanted to try that, and it was so cool. I actually used a shiny white paper for the bottom of the boots. I know it doesn't look like it, though.

I think before I mail it I will add some liquid glass to them to make them really shiny. : )

I bought both of these stamp sets at a convention long ago and always wanted to use them, but just never did. So I'm grateful for this trigger. Because it triggered my memory of those boots! lol Also, I was gonna color the soles darker, but I did not want the eye to be drawn to the bottom of the boots immediately, I want you to take in the whole picture. : )

The Secret of Life and Jade's 10th birthday

Hello all! This is going to be a very short post today. I wanted to post a poem I like, called- "Secret of Life". It will eventually end up on one of my greeting cards, it's just a matter of time. I came across this poem and several others stashed in another poetry book I like. Yes, that's how I do it. If I really needed it, I'd be at a loss. I can bet it's in a book, but then I'd have to look through about 1,000 of them...

Here's Jades card. By way of small explanation. Her mother posted her birthday cake photo on FB and it was a picture of a hamster shaped cake (really cute). I remembered I had this cutie clear stamp by K & Company. This was the closest I could come to it. I think she'll like it. Oh yeah, he was holding a cookie so I had to change that to a cupcake and raised his arms on top. He is popped up also. I know it looks like he's gonna burn off his nose, but I'm quite sure he's actually holding that little cupcake at a safe distance. : )

I really like this book because even though I may not agree with everything she writes beneath every word-100%, I agree with most of it. As for today's word "LAUGH", I love to laugh. I live to laugh, and I laugh to live. Laughter helps me through so many situations it's ridiculous. My recommendation? Surround yourself with other folks who love to laugh. You'll live longer! = )

My son was invited to a baby shower by his barber (He is 25). He has been cutting his hair since he was very young, and they have developed a good relationship (I guess he is like a big brother to him since my son is an only child). Somehow I ended up paying for most of the gift, although I wasn't invited to the shower. : / But I was determined not to take over. I took him to the store and trotted him around the entire store showing him all of the things that are necessary once a baby comes into the world, plus the cost of each item! The young mother had a 23 page gift registry. lol Hopefully he was listening and paying attention...only God knows for sure...

that you can't do it all-and who would want to anyway? ACCEPT a kind word. Don't appologize. ACCEPT a gift- no matter how big, how small. Say Thank you without embarrassment. ACCEPT that life isn't always fair and find the wonder in that, too. Don't Accept things

that aren't yours, like misdirected shame and blame. Like credit for someone else's accomplishment. Like disrespect. ACCEPT everything you are, and nothing you are not.

I love pink, and hearts, and satiny fabric....but why oh why didn't it all come together as I imagined it! lol

Hello! I was asked to make a card for our Corporal's 60th birthday. I usually require much more than one day's notice (for real!), but I tried my best to accommodate them. I hope this does not become a habit (smile)...anyway...I had to find a design I had already created. Sometimes I will just spend days thinking about the design, and I did not have that kind of time! This is NOT my original design, I found it on the Split Coast Stampers a long time ago, and I apologize for not knowing who originated it. This is my take...(2)

I almost didn't add the rhinestones, but I just wanted to see how they looked. Well...after I laid down a couple I thought I didn't like it. I tried to pull one up, and the paper started to tear. That's when I knew this design was "set in stone..." lol

Not much different is going on with me right now. No body said it would be easy....but we are "hanging in there..." Still thankful for our many blessings.

Thank you Helen for lifting my spirits earlier tonight. I rather enjoyed watching little Ms. Faye quilling at the age of three. She will be a master crafter by the time she is 5 or 6...
